Born more than 14 years ago, Mallacan stands as one of the most solid and consolidated musical projects in Aragon. Mallacan mixes every sort of music styles ( rock, reggae, ska… ) with traditional Aragon instruments, such as traditional clarinet and bagpipe and others like percussion instruments, accordion or brass sections to make a powerful and eclectic cocktail which has let them become a referent in the country regarding mix music.
After countless gigs in and out of the country, which have taken them to play in festivals like Viña-Rock, Pirineos Sur, Pyrenne and many others, and with a discography of a live rough cut and two studio records, they now reappear with a new record: Pais Zierzo.
Recorded in Zaragoza and mixed in Lorenzo Records studio in Berriz ( Bizkaia ), it has been mastered by Aitor Ariño ( marea, Platero y Tú, Extremoduro…) in the same studios and edited By Gor Discos.
With 12 songs ( 11 in Aragonese and 1 in Catalan ), Pais Zierzo presents itself as a mature, but fresh at the same time, project, with a more elaborated production work and very careful arrangements. It puts together Mallacan..s characterist ic power and strength and more soft and emotional moments.
From a more personal and poetic point of view, the lyrics deal with topics like the problem of rural depopulation, marshes or mistreatment to women; topics which were dealt in previous records along with more personal ones, which define Mallacan as a group who has been able to make a natural evolution through the years.
All in all, with this new work, Mallacan proves to be more alive than ever and are now planning an extensive presentation tour which have take them to Spanish state and also to Europe.
