"Broadcasting from Radio Tinieblas to the whole galaxy"
With this war cry and monkey leaps, "Mono Loco" (crazy monkey), climbs the stage with his group. Macaco is mostly himself.

Before starting his own band he contributed generously to the adventures of his musician friends, lending his voice and energy to just causes : Magia Animal (hardcore), Dr. No (funk), Ojos de Brujo (flamenco), Amparanoia (multiracial) Dusminguet (rumba, cumbia), Los de Abajo

" Satélite llamando la tierra ; no contesta "
" Satélite llamando la tierra ; no contesta " (Satellite calling the Earth: no answer)

The producers may not respond, but the audience beams with joy at every appearance of Macaco, the monkey. After being several times onstage in Barcelona, Macaco has finally released his first album with his band, the Hermandad Chirusa. This album is the product of several influences and a display of musical maturity.
The Hermandad Chirusa are Martin Fucks (guitar and voice - Argentina), Carlos Jaramillo (dub - Colombia) y Fran Beltrán (keyboards -Spain). Other members are from Spain Salva Suau (drums), Sebi Suaréz (bass) and Marc Artis (keyboard). From Colombia comes the king of cumbia, Beto Bedoya (drums and voice) and from Brazil Sandro dos Santos, an amazing drummer
The intermingling of all those musical styles generates a true Latin fusion.

As "Mono Loco" said to Francesca, an Italian friend, after a concert in Milan: If Latin music is Rick Martin, we belong to a category of alternative Latin music, but I don't believe Ricky Martin to be a Latin alternative.
"Mono Loco" is Beck's admirer and attempted to recover for this album his musical environment and and influences.

El Mono En El Ojo del Tigre is a mixture of melodies and sounds. Rumba, reggae,
rap and electronic music mingle naturally with street sounds, shouts and whispers from Barcelona's Chinatown and to the freshness and spontaneity of its characters. This musical fusion reconstitutes the street life of old Barcelona and gives the impression that one is strolling around the Raval streets, going from Plaza Real to the cathedral, from Plaza George Orwell to the Merce church, stopping now and then to listen to the old melodies which come from the buildings of the Escudelliers street.

The shouts of Mama Macaco, the accordion played by Joan from Dusminguet, Beto Bedoya's drums, Amparo Sanchez's voice, the 7 Notas 7 Colores rap of Mucho Muchacho, Robert Trujillo's bass, the touch of flamenco by Juanlu and Carlos from Ojos de Brujo, contribute to this musical explosion.

On stage , the monkeys move, shout, dance to the sound of what they play, go wild. Communication with the audience is the goal. The band participates in action for social causes, for instance, singing in Barcelona against the new immigration law.

David Byrne, seduced by the album, mixed the song Delaveraveraboomboom in his own manner for the second version. Macaco sings Chanchan by Compay Segundo contributing his own very particular touch.

Sucess does not go to their heads. They are considering a new album for late 2001, but meanwhile they never stop going on stage or making fiesta with their friends: to raise funds for Chiapas with Amparanoia, Dusminguet , and Wagner Pa (Sound System para La Realidad), to celebrate the release of a second album by their friends of Dusminguet in Barcelona's Club Apolo.
