CHALART58 is the alter ego of Gerard Casajús, Barcelonan drummer and percussionist with a whole lot of experience that has brought him to perform with every one from Radio Bemba (a band he played with during various seasons) to La Kinky Beat (his current group) as well as with Fermin Muguruza with whom he has lately performed in diverse collaborations.

A fan of black music, completely committed to the world of reggae and its variants, he has taken advantage of the latest tours with La Kinky Beat to improve on music that comes close to Jamaican sound systems, but also experimenting with the latest electronic trends, the result of which is "Recording", the first disc from Chalart58 that was released in October of 2007 at the hand of Kasba Music.

On the disc, we find the essence of his sessions: reggae, dub, dance-hall and other hot rhythms, controlled by Chalart58´s machinery and that is accompanied by numerous friends who contribute to finally give shape to the songs and the performance. On this album we find the voices of Matahary and Willy Fuego (La Kinky Beat), Sorkun, Bad Sound System, Rude (Barriobeat), Sito (Jaleo Real) and Marco Fonktana (Aerolineas Subterraneas), among others. Meanwhile those on instruments include: David Bourguignon on guitars (Radio Bemba), Willy Fuego on guitars and bass, Hernan "Lucky" on bass (La Kinky Beat), Arecio Smith on keyboards (Astrio), Marcel Janer on keyboards (Ranking Soldiers), Selektah Stepi-dj (Bad Sound System) and Chalart58 responsible for all of the percussion instruments.

Their sessions, where they mix the concept of the dj session with the concept of the concert, are a reduced format, but with the capacity to surprise up to the last minute. In this way, Willy Fuego usually accompanies him in his shows on guitar, with Matahary and Brujo (Bad Sound System) providing vocals. However, he has also realized sessions with live djs and the list of singers with whom he has collaborated is endless.

This year he will prepare the first tour to present the project that will be performed between the months of January and March of 2009. Although he has already realized concerts at the Santiago Capital Sala and the Zona Sala in Bueu, Galicia and at Salamandra in Hospitalet, La Capsa in Prat, Cal Gallifa in St. Joan de Vilatorrada, and more in Catalonia.
