She will keep walking even if it hurts.

Amparanoia is a paranoid- critical- festive band led by Captain
Amparo Sanchez from Granada. Amparo's paranoia is music and her records give us the impression that all the songs are persecuting her.

Amparo travels very often through rumba, but she can take a stroll around the Balkans and tzigane music or take a turn in the direction of rai without giving notice. She will go from the most rebellious rock to the Colombian cumbia and soon afterwards she will be crossing a Latin jazz landscape with electronic touches.
Criticism stems from her sharp eye and her open heart. When something hurts her, she voices it straightforwardly. In her last album, Amparo supports the cause of the dispossessed, loads the gun for defenseless women, opens our windows over Chiapas, brings down the barriers and burns the documents, upholding a world without borders. Amparo keeps fighting for her dreams and makes a tribute to those who will not give in.

Amparo does not agree with the current situation and states her discontent clearly.

Amparo is eye and heart, but most of all, fiesta. It is through music that she has decided to fight for a better world. Her music gives us energy and deep emotion.

Fed on blues, jazz, rock n'roll and soul, Amparo Sánchez followed the steps of Billie Holiday since she was 16 from stage to stage from Granada to Madrid, passing through Marseilles (France) and Essaouira (Morocco) until, as she was playing in Madrid's bars, she met the (big) family Chao in 1995. Amparo already knew a lot about music and the stage, but the meeting with Manu Chao and his band provided her with a large number of musical influences and meetings. With Robert Johnson and Piluka, Amparo was playing at the time in the trendiest bars and clubs of Madrid's alternative scene. Under the name of Amparos del Blues, the group began to show El Poder del Machín in pubs and bars of Malasaña such as El Tesoro, El Tio Vinagre or La Boca del Lobo. In mid 1997, having recorded the first album, the band takes the bus of La Caravane des Quartiers with Manu and his friends from Barcelona: Dani Carbonell, Joan Garriga from Dusminguet and Muñeco, among others.

1997 was a key year for Amparo ; her subsequent tours and festival participations made the group famous as a consolidated band in the alternative Spanish panorama. By performing on stage when she was eight months pregnant Amparo made in impact on the audience. In 1998 she releases Feria Furiosa, an album with clear Cuban influence and the contribution of friends from the bus and from the whole alternative scene: Manu Chao and Gambit, JuanLu and Joan Garriga, Dani Mono Loco, the Muguruza brothers, Tonino, Huajolote, Mucho Muchacho. The familiar environment and the attention of Monique and Nadine converge to the creation of a very special album. " A real luxury ", as she likes to recall.

The year 2000 brings a turning point in Amparo's emotional life. By the end of 2000, she travels to Mexico and is impressed by the sincerity of the zapatista struggle and the poetic straightforwardness of its spokesman. Back home, she decides to gather several friends in a Sound System to raise funds for Chiapas. Dani Carbonell, Joan Garriga, Muñeco, Wagner Pa, Beto Bedoya, Tomas, Antonio and Shankirta from Undrop decide to join.
From the Suristan to the Diapason, from the Juglar to Casa Babylon, Yuriria Pantoja's photo exhibition accompanies the Sound System Para La Realidad in these concert rooms in Barcelona, Madrid y Valladolid. In January, 2001, Amparo joins the caravan of the zapatista march to Mexico City and takes advantage of the trip to give the community "La Realidad" in Chiapas all the funds raised during this surprising improvised tour. From word to deed.

On her return from Chiapas she goes on to work with a group of experienced musicians, four of whom from Cuba, among them her faithful travelling companion from Camaguëy, Muñeco, and a Bulgarian to prepare her comeback to the stage. So she rehearses Somos Viento. A presentation tour for this album began on the 28th of February in Madrid and ended on the 13th April in Barcelona's Bikini concert room.

Somos Viento brings us the best Amparo, full of positive anger and messages as well as a strong desire to make fiesta as she urges us to opens our eyes

When one takes a seashell to the ear, hoping to hear the wind or the sea, it is neither the sea nor the wind that one hears, but the beating of one's own heart.
It is the same for those of us that will take Somos Viento through our ears only to find the door that Amparo Sanchez left open to her own heart.
