"Unicamista" was founded in 1999 by Slavo, Glauco and Roberto, three members of a previous Ska-Reggae formation called Rufus Rafcat. Afterwards it's made permanent by the collaboration of Alessandro (Dj Gorgo), dj and sound technician, the one who participates to characterise Unicamista sound. The music is influenced by the use of samplers and bases. During a busy year the band becomes larger by the entrance of new elements Stefano "Mr MKR" (sax), Andrea "Junior"(trumpet) and Mila (voice). In 2001 the band is completed by the introduction of a rhythm section composed by Walter (bass), Kaldo (drums) and Colle (percussions) some in-and-outs, the line-up becomes stable with Aury "Mokassa" (- contralto sax) and Pucho (percussion). Unicamista style is characterized by the fusion of different souls and personal experiences; each member of the group has his/her own different musical background which originates a rich sound. It's full of contaminations ranging from Ska to Reggae, to the "smoking" dub atmosphere, joining Latin flavoured rhytms and the introduction of electronic sampling. This genre is a Mista (mixture) of beats and rhythms you can hardly label.

We don't like calling it "World Music", we prefer call it "patchanga" (in basque it's a dance, but it also means confusion, chaos), or "patchanka" (see Manonegra and the like). The texts speak about us, they're "evidences" of our generation. They represent an efficacious way to "stop" our sensations for a long time both happy and angry or painful. They sometimes represent a game, sometimes what we believe in and we live for.. In our own small way we try to support freedom, equality and dignity claims coming from both our "neighbours" and from distant peoples, sure about it's not important how you come, but how you are
